Graduation Ceremony of French Language Studies Diploma “DELF”
Tuesday, January 7th, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamdan Al Tobi, Advisor to the Ministry of Education, and His Excellency Roland Dubertrand, Ambassador of France, was held at the Residence of France the graduation ceremony of the French Language Studies diploma (DELF) for the laureates of the May 2014 session. Of the hundreds of candidates who passed the tests, 80 have graduated.
In his introductory speech, Roland Dubertrand praised the vitality of the “Francophonie” in the Sultanate and stressed the role played by the French-Omani Centre, the French School of Muscat, the Sultan Qaboos University, the Oman Tourism College and the French Department of the University of Nizwa, in the diffusion of the French language in Oman.
The ambassador also thanked the Omani Ministry of Education for the pilot program initiated in 2013 that introduced French as a second foreign language in four public high schools, hoping that this experience, with the support of the Embassy, will continue and spread to other institutions.
During the ceremony, the two laureates who received a scholarship from the Embassy to make a language course in France showed their learning of the French language and graduate children recited poems.
