"Galliera in Oman": two centuries of French wedding dress

The Musée Galliera, fashion Museum of the City of Paris, selected thirty wedding dress, many accessories and rare items amongst its wealthy collections, in order to present an exhibition specifically conceived for Oman and Bait Fransa, the French-Omani relations Museum. Those wedding dress telling the fashion story from “La Belle époque” to our days, underlined the skills of French world renowned fashion designers.

Many people in Oman are interested in fashion, luxury industry and history. They gave us their full support to realise our aim, and expose those precious and unique models in the former house of the French Minister, located in the old area of Muscat.

This exhibition took place in the frame of the celebration dedicated to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saïd al Saïd 40th year of reign : A two hundred years history of wedding dress testifying two century of friendship between our two countries, France and The Sultanat of Oman.

Organised by the French Embassy and the Galliera Museum, and opened from the 6th of November to the 23rd of December, the exhibition has met an excellent attendance with various audiences.
