An omani dhow in Paris !
On the occasion of the exhibition Ocean Explorers, From Sindbad to Marco Polo, the Institute of the Arab World in Paris, with the support of the Sultanate of Oman, presents a traditional Omani dhow, the Nizwa. The Nizwa is one of the last wooden dhows built in the Sur shipyards in 1992. Purchased in 2004 by a French couple, this old fishing boat of 24m, emblematic of the Arabian Sea, is rigged and has been converted into a dwelling.
The exhibition was inaugurated on November 24th by Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and Mr. Jack Lang, President of the IMA, in the presence of HE Humaid Al Maani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman in France. You can see the dhow and visit the exhibition until February 26, 2017.
